Cowichan RCMP seek tips in fatal Christmas Day fire

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP hope the public can provide information about a fatal fire that took place in Duncan on Christmas Day, 2020.

The fire, which destroyed a home on Grieve Road, claimed the life of 79-year-old Frederick Allen Jones.

“Sometimes the smallest piece of information is the key investigators are looking for. We hope someone will be able to provide this,” said lead investigator, Cpl. Jen Morgan.

On Dec. 25, 2020, firefighters from North Cowichan’s South End and Maple Bay halls responded just after 9 a.m., but found the houes already fully engulfed in flames.
