Mayor Russ Arnott of Comox is taking a leave of absence.

The Town of Comox issued a news release on June 4 stating that the mayor will take a medical leave of absence and Coun. Ken Grant will fill in as acting mayor during this period. Council approved the measure during its regular meeting on June 3.

“The Town of Comox is sending our support to Mayor Arnott and his family during this difficult time,” the news release states.

It adds that Mayor Arnott will not be able to attend council functions and duties for an undetermined period of time due to what is being described as an “unforeseen but necessary medical procedure.”
