Victoria police officers are looking for the driver of a black SUV who allegedly spat on a cyclist near the B.C. legislature before hitting the cyclist with their vehicle.
The cyclist was knocked off their bike after being struck by the SUV and had to be assessed by paramedics near Douglas and Belleville streets around 5 p.m. on March 17.
In a Thursday (March 28) news release, police said officers determined the driver spat on the cyclist through an open window as the biker was at the intersection of Government and Belleville streets. The cyclist tried to confront the driver when they met a block down the road, at which point the SUV struck the spat-on individual.
VicPD is looking for the vehicle and driver, and looks to speak to those who witnessed or have dashcam footage of the incidents.
The black SUV is described as a 2010 to 2014 model, possibly a Nissan or Saturn, with B.C. Parks licence plates. The vehicle had pre-existing damage to the driver’s side door.
