Gun-wielding assault suspect driving blue side-by-side sought by RCMP

Campbell River RCMP seeking public assistance after York Road incident Nov. 23

The Campbell River RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating and identifying a suspect after a firearm was discharged in a wooded area south of Campbell River on Nov. 23.

A 911 call was received shortly after 1 p.m. on Nov. 23, directing police to a wooded area off of York Road that is popular with off road vehicle enthusiasts.

While collecting firewood in the area, the victim was confronted by a man operating a side-by-side. The suspect pulled out a firearm and fired it near the victim and then proceeded to assault him.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 50-60 years old, under 6 ft. tall, and has a husky build. He was operating a blue sport style side by side.
