The allure of downtown Victoria is a little stronger with free parking for two weekends in November.

The Downtown Victoria Business Association (DVBA), the Bay Centre and Robbins Parking are covering parking costs at nine downtown parkades on Nov. 18 and 25.

“The DVBA is pleased to partner with Robbins and work with the City of Victoria to provide free parking for people to come downtown and experience our unique retailers and food and beverage businesses. There is no better time to shop local than Black Friday and the holiday shopping season,” DVBA CEO Jeff Bray said in a news release.

Those looking to do holiday shopping, enjoy a meal at one of downtown’s many eateries, or are otherwise planning to visit downtown will not have to pay for parking.

Victoria parkades on Broughton, Yates, Johnson and View streets are included as is the Centennial Square Parkade. Other parking areas included are The Bay Centre, Broughton Square, Sussex Place and Harbour Centre.

The DVBA is covering the costs of city parkades while Robbins and the Bay Centre waive fees for their lots. With Nov. 25 being the day after Black Friday, the groups hope to encourage shoppers to seek out stores downtown leading up to the holidays.

“Robbins Parking is very proud to be part of this event. We love to see people come and experience Victoria’s beautiful and vibrant downtown and enjoy all the wonderful things it has to offer,” said Mo Jess, vice president of Robbins Parking.
