Police in Sooke credit a resident for providing information that led to a sizeable drug bust on Thursday (Feb. 1).

RCMP seized two pounds of methamphetamine, more than 80 hydromorphone (Dilaudid) pills and a small bag of cocaine after a resident informed police of suspicious behaviour in the 6700 block of West Coast Road.

“The prompt arrests of those individuals were possible due to the watchful eye of a concerned citizen” said Staff Sgt. Greg Willcocks, detachment commander of the Sooke RCMP.

“The Sooke detachment will continue to target drug traffickers and prolific offenders in our community.”

Two people – a 58-year-old Esquimalt man and a woman of no-fixed address – were arrested. The pair were released and and will appear in court at a later date.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
