The 125th annual Victoria Day Douglas Mile is taking place on Monday, May 20 at 8:45 a.m. (Race Roster)

Ahead of the 125th Victoria Day Douglas Mile parade, this year’s charity of choice for the event is Parkinson Wellness Projects (PWP).

Because of this, all proceeds collected during the event will go to PWP to help with programs, events, services, support groups, and education to increase the qualify of life for those living with Parkinson’s.

“Last year, we raised almost $21,000,” said Bailey Martin, PWP Executive Director, who explained their operations are funded through donations, grants, and contributions from local businesses and foundations.

Without the continued support from the community PWP would not be able to provide the services they do, Martin added.

Those who are participating will walk or run one mile from Douglas Street to City Hall on Victoria Day, which is Monday, May 20 at 8:45 a.m.
