Our Island: Fisgard Lighthouse

Conan Chee, from Conan Chee Photography , captured this magical image of Fisgard Lighthouse, located at the mouth of Esquimalt Harbour in Colwood and submitted the shot to the I Love British Columbia Facebook page . The first lighthouse erected on the West Coast, the lighthouse was first lit at sunset on Nov. 16, 1860 to ease the movement of naval ships. A National Historic Site since 1958, Fisgard Lighthouse stands adjacent to another such site, Fort Rod Hill.
