New York’s Willie Nile and his band will play Nanaimo in a rare West Coast appearance.
According to a release, Nile and his all-star band will be at the Queen’s Hotel on Saturday, Aug. 13, with Stephen Stanley and Chris Bennet from the Lowest of the Low opening.
“This is a real rock ‘n’ roll show, the type rarely seen around these parts,” noted the release.
Following their show on Saturday, members of Nile’s band may also play in the Summertime Blues Festival After Jam, featuring Thor and the Thundercats from 9:30 p.m. to midnight at the Queen’s.
The Willie Nile Band will continue its tour through August with shows in Kamloops, Salmon Arm and Whitehorse. The band will once again open for the Who in Woodstock, N.Y., to wrap up the tour, noted the release.
Nile is visiting the West Coast for a documentary being produced by White Rock’s Blue Frog Studios which will feature interviews with famous superfans of Springsteen, Roger Daltrey, Bono and Miami Steve Van Zandt where they discuss “the artistry of a critics’ darling who has yet to fully break through into the mainstream,” noted the release.
Tickets for the Nanaimo show, which runs from 7-9 p.m. on Aug. 13, will need to be purchased in advance online at www.myzonetickets.com.
