Laketown Shakedown festival announces full lineup joining Gwen Stefani

Headliners include hip hop royalty Busta Rhymes, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony

Music lovers of all genres can start planning to shake up things again this summer with the 2024 Laketown Shakedown which will take place from June 28 to 30 over Canada Day long weekend.

The weather will hopefully be warm, and the line-up of acts is definitely hot. Shortly after last year’s event concluded, it was publicized that pop-sensation Gwen Stefani would be one of this year’s headliners — it has now been announced who will be joining her for this long weekend of music, culture, and community.

Getting the party started on Friday, June 28 will be local hero and rock sensation Jesse Roper who will bring his high energy performance to the Lakenight Stage for the Kickoff Party along with DJ Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5 fame.

On Saturday, June 29 it will certainly be hip-hop hooray for all fans of that genre as rap royalty Busta Rhymes takes the main stage to unleash his lyrical prowess and magnetic charisma for all in attendance. With a career spanning more than three decades fans cans expect to hear some of his hit singles such as ‘Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See’, and ‘Break Ya Neck.’ That’s not a wrap for that genre — also taking the main stage on Saturday will be hip-hop group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony who were trailblazers, mixing rap with their signature harmonies on tracks such as ‘Tha Crossroads’, ‘East 1999’, and ‘1st of tha Month’.

Those who prefer rock and roll as their go-to genre will be delighted to hear that the genre-blurring artist Grandson will also be hitting the stage on June 29. The press release stated that his socially conscious lyrics and electrifying live performances have not only earned him critical acclaim, but also a dedicated following.

Laketown Shakedown is saving the best for last as Gwen Stefani makes her first headline performance on Vancouver Island, in one of only a few dates she’ll be performing this year. Known for her No Doubt fame and her sensational solo career this pop princess has become world renowned for her unparalleled stage presence and chart-topping hits such as ‘Hollaback Girl’, ‘Rich Girl’ and ‘What You Waiting For?’ just to name a few. She has earned multiple Grammy Awards and has received many accolades over the span of her nearly 30 year career.

Also hitting the stage on Sunday will be the Vancouver based star BBNO$ who will be bringing his unique blend of rap, pop, and humour that has garnered him millions of fans worldwide. He’s known for viral hits like ‘Lalala’ and ‘Edamame’.

Other confirmed artists for this summer’s Laketown Shakedown set against the backdrop of Cowichan Valley’s Laketown Ranch include Neon Steve, Miina, Murge, Bankes Brothers, The Free Label, Illvis Freshly, The Steadies, Downtown Mischief, Burchill, Mt Doyle, Blase Blase, The New Groovement, Darrian Gerard, Base Collective, and many more.
