New regimental colours will fly for the first time on the grounds of the Bay Street Armoury on Sunday, April 28 as the The Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary’s) celebrate a change of command.

Commanding Officer Lt.-Col. David Proctor passes command of the regiment to his successor, Lt. Col. Slade Lerch in a parade that includes soldiers of the regiment marching in formation and regimental pipe band perform.

A significant part of the event will see the regimental colours paraded for the first time since the recent award of a new battle honour acknowledging the contributions of the soldiers of the regiment who served in Afghanistan between 2002 and 2014.

Veterans who served in Afghanistan will be in attendance.

The Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary’s) is a part of the Army Reserve in British Columbia. Soldiers of the regiment train evenings and weekends while serving as a part time component of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The change of command parade is Sunday (April 28) in the Bay Street Armoury at 715 Bay St. at 1:45 p.m.

Other events taking place in downtown Victoria this weekend are a 10K run and the Khalsa Day parade, which is causing many street closures.
