Leadership Vancouver Island welcomes return to in-person sessions

2021-22 program features a three-day retreat at Cowichan Lake

The 17th Leadership Vancouver Island will feature a return to in-person experiential learning through an eight-month journey of personal growth and development.

Since 2005, LVI has provided emerging leaders the opportunity to develop their self-confidence, entrepreneurial skills, and to network through a community capstone project.

This year’s cohort can expect a dynamic 2021-22 leadership program that leverages innovation and new opportunities in a post-pandemic economy poised to expand.

“Strong leaders are essential to the community fabric, economic prosperity and well being of the residents of Vancouver Island,” said Craig Richardson, board chair. “The pandemic has presented many challenges and opportunities to learn and grow. The 2021 Leadership Program will leverage these experiences in an integrated learning and development environment.”

With employer endorsement and support, this year’s cohort will commence their leadership journey with a three-day retreat at Cowichan Lake followed a suite of training modules concluding with a capstone project designed to support community organizations and showcase their products and services on Vancouver Island.

Sponsoring agencies can expect their participating employees to develop skills and knowledge that immediately benefit their organizations and have long-lasting community impact. The program enhances sponsor organizations that may not have their own in-house leadership training.

LVI’s community-focused Leadership Development Program provides participants with professional training, coaching, and hands-on learning opportunities to realize and grow their potential. Graduates develop meaningful connections, dynamic communication skills, and a unique capacity to lead themselves and others to effect lasting positive change.

This year’s cohort — Team Collaboration and Team Hearts to Hold — delivered two successful community projects during a challenging pandemic year. The teams worked with community partners to elevate their brand and raise community awareness of the important work that these organizations provide.
