The RAD Recreation Adapted Society is offering up an opportunity for the community to try out accessible bikes and more this weekend.
On Saturday (Sept. 16) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Clover Point Park in Victoria, the group will be holding the Adaptive Bike Fest, featuring everything from hand cycles to guided bike rides, food vendors to bike and wheelchair tune-ups, and it’s all free.
The event is aimed at showing how accessible getting outside and having fun can be, even for those with limited mobility, and providing an opportunity to try out the often hard-to-find accessible equipment without cost.
In addition to providing bike and wheelchair tune-ups, event partner Oak Bay Bikes will be offering lessons to help interested attendees gain the skills they need to work on their own gear.
Alpine Electric Bikes and Capital Bike have also joined up with RAD to put on the event with the aim of making the cycling community more inclusive. RAD will also be showcasing the services and equipment they have available for rent.
