Dogs can bark and woof, and it turns out they can also honk.

A video of a dog leaning on the horn of a vehicle in the parking lot at Nanaimo’s Beban Park is continuing to be shared nationwide.

At last count Sunday morning, the video, shot by Nanaimo’s Joris Wiggers and shared by his wife Elizabeth Herman, has surpassed 320,000 views on Facebook.

“I go from, oh, this is totally amazing, to oh, this is ridiculous,” said Wiggers. “I don’t really know what to think of it. I’ve decided that if it’s an opportunity to make people happy, then that’s great.”

He said he had dropped the kids off at swimming at Beban Pool that day and decided to go for a walk in the park when he came across the dog honking the horn.

“I don’t know if he was doing it on purpose, but I get the sense that maybe he was,” Wiggers said.

He said he’s never posted an animal video before, but he gets why people like them and why it was so popular..

“I think it does speak to the hunger for the populace to hang onto something that has some levity,” Wiggers said.
