Port Alberni’s Laurent Brossoit has fulfilled a lifelong dream.

The Vancouver Island minor hockey product who suited up for the junior A Cowichan Valley Capitals for 21 games during the 2009/10 season, has won the coveted Stanley Cup.

Brossoit and his teammates on the Vegas Golden Knight won the best-of-seven series against Florida four games to one and though Brossoit didn’t play in the last two rounds, he was an integral part of their series win.

Earlier in the playoffs, Brossoit, 30, dominated the net for Vegas, winning five of seven games played before being injured in their Western Conference semi-final series against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Golden Knights went on to beat the Dallas Stars in game six of the Western Conference finals on May 29 to advance to the finals against the Panthers.

It was the first Stanley Cup win for both Vegas, and Brossoit.
