The Nanaimo Clippers are the first BCHL team to make it through to Round 2 of the playoffs.
The Clippers defeated the Surrey Eagles 6-2 in Game 4 on Tuesday, April 5, in Surrey, to sweep a best-of-seven playoff series four games to none. The Clips had won Game 3 the night before by a 3-1 score.
The Clippers got the start they were looking for in the clinching game, as Tristan Fraser and Max Itagaki scored first-period goals to stake the team to a 2-0 lead. Jérémie Payant, Sean Donaldson, Brody Waters and Andrew Noel also scored, Fraser and Itagaki both finished with a goal and two helpers, and goalie Cooper Black was chosen first star as his team was outshot 31-27.
The night before, Brett Merner, Jake Hewitt and Keighan Gerrie scored and Black made 20 saves in the win.
The No. 3-seeded Clippers will have to wait to find out their second-round opponent, as the four conference semifinalists will be re-seeded to determine the matchups.
