The Nanaimo Clippers' hockey season has come to an end.
The junior A hockey club lost its best-of-seven series against the Cowichan Valley Capitals four games to one after dropping Game 5 by a 3-0 score on Friday, April 11, in Duncan.
The Clippers were outshot 36-30 by the Caps in the decisive game, with Chazz Nixon suffering the loss in the crease. Cole Lonsdale was Nanaimo's top scorer in the post-season with six points, while Patrick Fortune was the top goal scorer with four.
"We would like to thank the Cowichan Capitals for a hard-fought, competitive playoff series. Nothing but respect for the battle you brought every game and best of luck moving forward," the Clippers posted on social media.
Aside from the Capitals, the Victoria Grizzlies and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs are also moving on to the second round after winning their respective series.
The Clippers thanked their fans, whom they called the best in the B.C. Hockey League.
"Your passion, energy, and support powered us all season long," the team posted.
