The Nanaimo Clippers continue to be the class of the Coastal Conference.
The Clippers picked up two more wins over the Remembrance Day weekend, defeating the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 4-1 at Frank Crane Arena on Nov. 11 and then winning the rematch by a 3-2 score Nov. 12 in Port Alberni.
On Remembrance Day, the Clippers wore special jerseys for the occasion and there was a pre-game ceremony to present the HMCS Nanaimo’s bell to the ship’s crew. The Clips got goals from Brett Merner, Luca Grabas, Rylan Yates and Charles Tardif and Aidan Campbell made 42 saves for the win.
In the rematch, Michael Craig scored the shootout winner and he and Skyler Cameron scored in regulation. Campbell made 44 saves.
The Clippers remain in first place in the conference with a 15-3 record.
GAME ON … The Clippers are on the road this weekend to take on the Chilliwack Chiefs and Surrey Eagles on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19-20. Nanaimo’s next home game isn’t until Dec. 2, when the Clips host the Chiefs for a 7 p.m. faceoff at Frank Crane.
