The Cowichan Capitals overcame a five-goal deficit to beat the Langley Rivermen on their own home ice Friday, Feb. 28 in Langley.

Down 5-0 after two periods of play, the Capitals mounted a comeback, scoring six goals in the third period to take the lead with four minutes left. Both Gavin Giesbrecht and Hayden Russel scored twice, while Luca Primerano and Mortiz Kukuk added goals to push the Capitals ahead by one.

A late goal from Langley ruined Cowichan's hopes for a regulation come-from-behind victory and the game went to overtime to determine the winner.

Camden Bajzer was the overtime hero for the Caps, scoring at the 2:35 mark of the extra period, to give the visiting team a hard-earned victory on the first night of back-to-back games.

Of note against Langley, three Russell brothers skated for Cowichan in both games this past weekend. Twins Hayden and James Russell are both with the team full time, but their younger brother Brendan Russell was called up for his second and third games of the year with the BCHL team.

Cowichan had hoped to ride the high from their big win the night before on Saturday, March 1 when they visited the Coquitlam Express but once again they found themselves down early. Behind 2-1 after the first period, Jordan Bax scoring Cowichan's goal, the Caps were able to tie it up midway through the second with Nicolas Beaudoin's 13th of the season.

The Express answered back twice in the same period to take a 4-2 lead into the final frame and despite another goal from Bax early in the third, they were unable to score the equalizer and lost 4-3.

The Capitals visit the Victoria Grizzlies on March 7 and then play host to Powell River at the Cowichan Arena on March 8. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
