Each team scored a convincing win as the B.C. Hockey League playoffs got underway.
The Nanaimo Clippers and the Langley Rivermen split the first two games of a best-of-seven series, with the Clips winning Game 1 by a 4-0 score on Friday, March 31, at Frank Crane Arena, and the Rivermen responding with a 5-1 win Saturday, April 1, also at Frank Crane.
In the opener, Nanaimo outshot Langley 36-25. Charles Tardif scored twice and Jérémie Payant and Brody Waters also tallied as Aidan Campbell stopped all 25 shots he faced for the shutout.
The next day, however, only Michael Craig was able to light the lamp for the home team, though they outshot the visitors by a 34-26 margin. Campbell made 21 saves in defeat.
GAME ON … The Clippers and Rivermen play Game 3 and Game 4 on Monday and Tuesday, April 3-4, in the Fraser Valley. Game 5 will be Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena. For ticket information, visit www.nanaimoclippers.com.
