The party has started in heaven celebrating the end of Ziggy's journey. His life was stretched out far beyond a lot of expectations. Ziggy's gift was being told he had months to live. He had a great life, far from perfect, but was his life which he accepted full responsibility for and never gave up.

Born and raised in Black Creek, Ziggy graduated from GP Vanier High School in Courtenay and went on to have a very diverse career. He started off in the logging industry in Eve River. He then opened Ziggy's Menswear on Shoppers Row in Campbell River which was the birth of his vibrant style which he carried throughout the rest of his life. From there he became a Certified Horticulturist and spent the last few years as the owner/operator of Ziggy's Lawn & Garden Care. Ziggy also served the City of Campbell River as a Counselor for two terms.

Ziggy was an avid fisherman and loved the ocean, enjoying many hours fishing for the big one with his buddies. He was also an accomplished athlete with numerous marathon finishing medals and Sport Fit enthusiast.

He is survived by his mother, Helma Stewart (Gaylord), daughter Brittany (Danny & granddaughters Charlotte and Adelyn), son Cole (Karyn), brother

Ralph(Denise), nephews Sam and Alex.

During this last year of his life his companion, Tanis Senum, was loving and supportive and together they enjoyed what time they had to the fullest.

Special thanks to Dr. James Grace for his compassionate support and friendship through Ziggy's journey with cancer and the amazing nurses at NI Hospital.

By Ziggy's request there will be no funeral. He was never one to miss out on a celebration and Ziggy hosted a 'Living Dead' party so he could be a part of it. Thank you to all who came, sent their wishes and shared their stories.

Ziggy was grateful and honoured so many friends, from all stages of his life, were able to join him.

A plaque will be displayed in his name at The Tyee Club and in lieu of flowers donations can be made (for those who wish) to The Tyee Club of B.C., 2951 Spit Road, Campbell River B.C. V9W 6E3 or ziggyfortyeeclub@gmail.com

Ziggy was right, he was one "Lucky Bastard". His spirit, energy and infectious laugh will be remembered by anyone who knew him. "Never give up" "Every day is a good day... some are just better than others".

Life is a song, sing it.

Life is a struggle, accept it.

Life is a tragedy, confront it.

Life is an adventure, dare it.

Life is luck, make it.

Life is life, fight for it.
