March 2, 1928 - June 26, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the news that Wolfgang Frisch, aged 92yrs old passed away on June 26th with his wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of Theresia Frisch of 63 years; Father to Johanna Frisch and Christine Monier (Herve); Opa to Mariam, Michael, Agathe, Malachi, and Timothee; and a brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was dedicated to his beloved family through and through, and was always so proud of us all.
He was a talented master cabinet maker, a trade which he loved and shared with a passion. He was born in Rastatt, Germany and was proud of the life he made in Canada. He was extremely hard working and always willing to offer help and support to others. He had a positive outlook on life, was pragmatic and a realist, with loads of kindness, love and encouragement to offer.
He immigrated to Toronto, Canada from Germany in 1953 where he married Theresia, the love of his life, and started his family and fine cabinet making business. He also enjoyed hobby farming for many years in Bolton, Ontario and moved in his retirement to Calgary to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.
His Catholic faith was an integral part of his life; being a member of the Knights of Columbus, St Vincent de Paul and many a church choir. Travelling to visit family in Germany and France were also hugely important to him. He was a man who made connections easily, always cheerful and outgoing.
In 2014, he made his final move out west to the Comox Valley, which he called "the Canadian tropics."
Even at 92 he was still so full of life and always had a good story or two to tell. He also had a lovely twinkle in his eyes; with a joke to share, laughter in abundance, and a glowing smile that radiated joy to all. He will be truly missed.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who accompanied him especially Dr. Trevor Shoesmith, Father David Hogman, the health care aids and staff of the Seniors Village, and Comox Valley Hospital.
There will be a mass of Christian burial on Friday July 3rd at Christ the King Catholic Church, Courtenay. This will be a private service due to Covid-19.
Donations to L'Arche Comox Valley would be greatly appreciated.
