In loving memory ~

It is with respect, admiration and great sadness we announce Winne peacefully passed October 23rd at Yuculta Lodge joining her loving husband Ed and daughter Jennette in the heavenly realms.

Winnie was born May 24th, 1931 in Tomahawk, Alberta to Leona and Valentine Lutz. She grew up on the farm with 5 siblings, who loved and supported each other unconditionally.

On the farm they were surrounded by many extended family members with some of her fondest memories being at Grama and Grampa Lutz's house where there was always something delicious on the woodstove to eat on the way home from school.

Winnie carried on this tradition of hospitality, her friends and family were welcomed with an open-door invitation. She always made delicious home cooked meals, bread, cinnamon buns, clam chowder, strawberry jam, pickles and her preserves. There was never a question whether or not you were hungry she expected you to stay for a meal or tea.

In her late teens Winnie and three friends left for the Okanagan to pick fruit. The freedom and hard work suited her. She reminisced about this time of friendship with the family she became lifelong friends with. She was proud of the beautiful green wool coat she bought herself.

In the early 50's Winnie left Alberta with her daughter Linda to join her parents in Qualicum Beach and start a new life.

In 1953 Winne moved to Campbell River for work at Dot's café. There she met Ed; he picked her up for their first date in his logging truck. Together for 60 years they raised their four children, Deana (Rodolfo), Wendy (Al), Jennette and Cindy (Vic). Their family grew with many grandchildren, Michelle, Nicole, Mariah, Rhiaanah and Hollis. Greatgrandchildren, Hope, Theo, Keslee and Nash.

Winnie devoted her life to family she was always there to cheer them on in whatever they were doing. The garden was her happy place where she loved to dig up new potatoes and admire the flowers. Going on short getaways with her sister Barb to Reno, fishing with her brothers, camping in her van, getaways to the cabin, bowling, sewing, knitting, potlucks and cards.

Winnie embraced her life in the Campbell River community, and it has been made clear by many family friends that she made a significant impact on and those that wished to extend condolences for a life well lived! She will be missed and remembered.

My mind still talks to you

My soul knows you are at peace
