May 16, 1940 - May 7, 2021
Too soon, without warning William suddenly passed peacefully in the home he loved and enjoyed, when his heart failed. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years Nettie, brother Michael (Port Alberni), he will be missed by his nephew, nieces, cousins and many in-laws, who respected and loved him.
He was predeceased by his son John, Father John, mother Maria, step father Steve Melnyk, and sister Joan.
William arrived in Canada (Saskatchewan) at the age of 8, with his mother and siblings after WW ll fleeing from Ukraine through Europe, losing his father in Germany.
The family moved to Port Alberni, where after school he began his work career, met the love of his life Nettie and later moved to Prince George. He worked in the Pulp and Paper industry as a millwright, but more so, was a perfectionist as a craftsman working in wood, stone, metal, jewelry or gemstones. He had the ability to visualize, create and fabricate whatever was needed.
Returning to the Island in 1991 they settled at Schooner Cove in Nanoose Bay, where he enjoyed his crafts and travelling.
Many thanks to all the friends and neighbours who have been so kind and offering help.
