January 2, 1947 - December 20, 2019
William John George, age 72, of Deep Bay, British Columbia passed away peacefully at home on Friday December 20, 2019. William was born January 2, 1947.
Billy was many things; eccentric, compassionate, a story teller, OCD, very intelligent, had an inner strength and a zest for life. He loved the great outdoors, living in the North most of his life in remote border towns gave him the opportunity to pursue fishing, working in his shop, reading and watching movies from his large classic movie collection. He lived 21 years in Pleasant Camp, BC on the Alaska border. There were few things he loved more than cookies, candies, or sweets, having a beer with friends, shopping at Canadian Tire and travelling. He worked with Canada Customs for 35 years as a Senior Inspector and upon his retirement in 2004, moved to Vancouver Island. Billy was proud to be identified as a Free Mason, paramedic, PA assistant, JP2, and flew on planes with his best friend delivering supplies to remote communities.
Billy is predeceased by his parents Edward and Eileen (Cathcart) and sister Judy George. He is survived by his best friend Annette George, daughters Bobbi Hannon of Texas, and Caroline (Shawn) Osler of Montana, step-daughter Kasondra Stanford of Alaska, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a special niece, and many friends. Special thanks to Billy's longtime neighbor of 15 years, Kristo and Susan Kuun who really helped out and assisted whenever they could.
