Bill's wonderful 89 year adventure began in Hanna, Alberta. He lived in the town of Byemoor until he moved to Calgary in 1944, upon his father's retirement.

Bill completed high school at Central Canada High, playing football with the Westend Tornados. He received a B.Sc. from George Williams College (Chicago, IL) leading to a 34 year teaching career with the Calgary Board of Education including the PE Department at Western Canadian High School and principalships in the Elementary System. A job he loved.

Upon retirement, Bill moved to Qualicum Beach where he thrived; contributing to the community he was grateful to be part of. Throughout his life, Bill loved being outdoors enjoying gardening, skiing, curling, fishing, golfing until Parkinson's took its toll. He never lost his sense of humour and always made time for people, chatting with anyone.

He is survived by his best friend and wife Joan, Bob (Millie), Gord (Jeff ), Tom (Marie); grandchildren Tyler (Audrey), Amanda (Lev), Samantha, and Cody, the family he loved so dearly.

Our thanks for the wonderful support and care provided by the staff of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and Parksville Trillium Lodge (Hospice), that made Bill's last days so peaceful. Bill has requested no service.

Friends, family, former colleagues, and students are invited to join us for a celebration of Bill's life from 2 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the lounge of the Qualicum and District Curling Club, 644 Memorial Ave, Qualicum Beach, BC. Dress casual. Light refreshments will be available.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a donation may be made in memory of William Fayter to the Parkinson Society British Columbia, 600-890 West Pender St, Vancouver, BC V6C 1J9.
