It is with love and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Ross.

Born on April 20, 1945 in Truro NS, Bill was the son of the late Elizabeth F. Ross (nee Miller) and Evan B. Ross. He is survived by his second wife Lynne Ross (nee Allen), first wife Jillyan Ross (nee Smythe), sons Michael (Tamara) and Robin, sister Nancy (Donnie), brother Robert (Diane), grandsons Nolan and Lucas, many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Bill grew up in St. Andrews NB where he graduated from Vincent Massey High School and then onto the NB Institute of Technology and Mount Allison University. He began a 25-year career with the Federal Government in Fredericton NB that would include stops in Ottawa and St. Catherines ON and Lethbridge AB, before settling in Nanaimo BC in 1980 where he worked at the Pacific Biological Station (Department of Fisheries and Oceans), retiring in 1995.

Bill's early years in Nanaimo were spent golfing, coaching minor hockey, curling, playing softball, and forming many friendships. Post retirement years were spent exploring and travelling across Canada and overseas to discover historic golf courses and culture in Ireland and Scotland.

Bill met his second wife Lynne at a Valentine's Day dance on Newcastle Island and they were married in the spring of 2004. They enjoyed travelling, watching their grandkids play sports, spending time with family and socializing with friends. Bill was an active and dedicated member of the Trinity Church choir.

A devout Montreal Canadiens fan despite their recent Stanley Cup drought, avid musician, golfer, and storyteller, with an infectious sense of humor and quick wit, Bill will forever be remembered as a kind, gentle and supportive father who encouraged and supported his family.

A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at Nanaimo Golf Club on February 24, 2019 from 1 pm-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC or ....... to the Montreal Canadiens charity fund for a 3rd line center (your choice).
