William (Bill) Spivak was born on Nov 21, 1926, and passed away peacefully on Nov 15, 2017, in Nanaimo Hospital. He was 90 years old.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Agaphia Spivak (from Russia and Ukraine); his siblings Nick (Emily), Toni (Orville), Vera, Neil (Verna), and Danny; and his son Bruce. His remaining siblings are Doris, Anne (Walter) and Lillian.
He had four children from his first marriage to Joan: Sharon, Wayne (Jane), Bruce (Bernie) and Gael (Stewart).
He married Sylvia with four children Jan (Terry), Lee, Michelle and Richard. The two families are very close and have shared many happy memories. Bill and Sylvia just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Bill had a great tool business with Allied Tools in Calgary. When he retired, Bill and Sylvia moved to Parksville. They spent many happy years together, travelling all over in their motorhome, boating and fishing and hosting family visits. They were avid crib and poker players, and were often winners.
Bill was an extraordinary fisherman and a great clammer. His vegetable and fruit garden was amazing. He also made incredible wine that he graciously gave away to friends and family. Bill had a very special way with his great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all his family, including all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the Drs and staff who cared for him at Nanaimo hospital.
There will be no funeral, as Bill wished.
There will be a memorial planned for the family in the spring of 2018 in Calgary.
