It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bill Hadikin. Bill’s strength and strong will succumbed on September 5, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.
Bill was born in Nelson BC, and moved to the island in 1966.
He worked for the city as a labourer and then moved on to work for uplands as a heavy equipment operator. Bill was hard working and in his retirement acquired his own excavator (Slack Alice). Bill was charismatic and had a heart of gold. He was social and loved music, sports, family and friends. He was generous and was always there to lend a helping hand. Bill had a baby girl Rachel in 1983. Soon after he met Patricia and married in 1986. They spent 37 years together until they both succumbed to cancer. They loved to travel and their dogs brought them both such happiness.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Nick and Vera, his sisters Natasha and Ellen, his brother Nick, and most recently his wife Patricia. He is survived by his daughter Rachel, sister Vicky, sister-in-law Sandy, brother-in-law Ray (Cheryl), nieces, nephews, many friends, and his beloved dog Cody.
A celebration of life will be held for both Bill and Pat on October 7, 2023, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 1 p.m. Obituary
