September 14, 1931 - December 28, 2019
On December 28th, 2019, William (Bill) Baikie, former Campbell River resident, passed away in his home in Lancaster, California at the age of 88. Born into a logging family on September 14, 1931, raised in Royston, Bill moved to Campbell River in the 1950's after marrying his high school sweetheart, Sandra. Bill worked as a gypo logger and had a passion for logger's sports, becoming a world class log roller in his youth. He was also active in the community through the local Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club. Always cheerful and optimistic, Bill loved to spend time with friends and family. He had great stories to tell about skiing on Forbidden Plateau long it became a ski development, and of his adventures while logging in this area. In the mid 1970's Bill and Sandra moved to California where Bill became a successful realtor with Century 21. Much of his success in life can be attributed to the family trait of integrity and openness instilled by his parents, Harper and Myrtle Baikie. Bill was cheerful and happy throughout his life. Predeceased by his sister Myrtle Edna (Wayne), he is survived by his wife, Sandra, his sons Ian (Sherry), Jeff, Kevin, daughter Shawna, grandchildren Andrea (Dave) and Eric (Dyan).as well as sister Norma (Charles) Riley and brother Harper (Phyllis) Baikie and their families. A family service will be held in California
