Werner Dolling passed away in Port Alberni on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the age of 73 after a short battle with lung cancer.

Werner is survived by wife of almost 50 years, Marilyn; children Brenda (Ralph) and Greg (Leona); grandchildren Kyle (Tamiko), Justin (Julie), Griffin and Sydney; sisters Barbara and Rose as well as extended '4 legged family' Ella and Millie.

Born in Germany, Werner immigrated to Canada, coming straight to Great Central Lake when he was 6 years old into an area known as "Little Germany"  He grew up in the valley and was always involved in sports as far back as family can remember.  From Basketball as a member of the Chieftains, fast pitch as an adult, to being the ultimate fan and attending all the practices of his beloved grandchildren, whether it be hockey or baseball.

In his early life he enjoyed being in the outdoors and was always physically active with fishing - whether stream or salt water - or golfing.  Even in his over 40 year occupation (with M & B, and then Weyerhauser) of being involved in the logging industry, first as a faller, then as management and later on in Safety, he was so very proud of being over 38 years accident free in such dangerous and hard work.

Above all else, he considered his greatest achievement as being the ultimate grandfather to his four grandchildren

A Celebration of Werner's Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Cherry Creek Hall, 3720 Moore Road, Port Alberni., BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Werner's memory may be made to SPCA, 4939 Broughton St, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 7L9 or Canadian Cancer Society, 3030B - 3rd Ave, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 2A5
