It is with great sadness that the James Family announces the passing of Wendy Elizabeth James (nee Nelson) who quietly passed away on March 26 at 3:30 pm at the Royal Jubilee Hospice.

Born in Blackpool, England November 3, 1942, Wendy immigrated to Canada in 1974 with her Husband Derek Edward James and two sons Gareth (Garry) Edward James and Terrence (Terry) Edward James.

Survived by Garry and Terry, Wendy will be remembered as the most amazing Mum ever who always put the needs of her family first. Wendy was a very bright spark with a lot of ambitions! She loved athletics and creative endeavours alike. As a youth, Wendy competed in Fencing until the birth of her second son Terry. She accompanied her Husband Derek at Sea for one of his trips in the English Merchant Navy and was the only Woman on board as they sailed to India.

Wendy loved to knit and knitted many family members' jumpers (sweaters), scarves, hats with everyone getting a pair of and her latest creation "Adult Booties". She worked for many years at the Victoria Airport for Tilden Rental cars and she was the Mom who had all her Sons' friends over for Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinners.

The James' family lived in Sidney on Weiler Ave for many years. There Wendy created the most amazing garden (that resembled a small version of the local Butchart Gardens) with many sections and an extensive variety of trees, plants and flowers. The garden was Wendy's creative passion and she tended it faithfully up until last year when her health declined.

Wendy was strong, passionate, loving and a best friend to many.

She offered a lot of empathy and compassion to others all her life. She will be terribly missed.
