Our lady Wanda. Too soon, too young. A beautiful woman, devoted, kind and loving. Our mother, my wife, a sister, daughter, aunt, and grandmother. Family was her focus and Wanda cherished each of these roles above all else.
Born in Red Deer, Alberta and predeceased by her parents Irene and Lorne Latam. Growing up with 2 wonderful sisters Karen (Bob) Reay and Lorna (Nick) Pantzouri. Wanda treasured the 'giddy as a school girl' relationship with her mom and sisters her whole life.
After graduating high school, Wanda became a telephone operator in Red Deer. Often hearing her voice when connecting business calls, Reg, her future husband, became infatuated. Months later they met and the 50+ year loving relationship began.
Moving to Nanaimo in 1971, Wanda worked at B.C. Tel for 7 years. Telephone operator then scheduling/payroll. Afterwards, Wanda settled into what we know as the best mom, best wife ever. Married in 1975 to Reg Warren, her mother said 'finally'.
Wanda was a member of the Kinette Club of Nanaimo for 12 years. Part of the Kinsmen service club organization that raises money for local charities and individuals in need. Being new to Nanaimo, this added friendships and social life for a young couple.
Wanda's greatest pride and joy, her two sons. This was extended when they married and grandkids followed. Sons Cory (Haiyan) granddaughter Jessica, Craig (Yumi) granddaughter Eleanor and grandson Ethan. Following her sons to the other side of the world, she and Reg travelled to China and Japan. And a happy holiday wedding in Hawaii.
Diagnosed several years ago with early-stage dementia Wanda was able to maintain her independence and happiness at home until very recently. In the years prior, Wanda enjoyed making dolls clothes, knitting, and macramé for nieces, sons and family.
The Warren family would like to thank all the staff at Dufferin Place for their dedication and caring support to Wanda's needs during her short stay, plus their extended courtesy and support to us. It takes extraordinary and special people to do what you do. Thank you.
