Mosch, Waltraut passed away in Port Alberni on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the age of 94 years.
Predeceased by husband Heinz and grandson Michael. Survived by children Renate and Peter (Irene); grandchildren Celeste (Vince), Tyson Tabatha), Marcus (Kathryn); great grandchildren Talia, Carla, Cooper, Amilia, Colby, Mackenzie and Jeffery; as well as her sister Margaret and extended family in Germany.
Waltraut came to Canada in 1960, arriving in Vancouver where she worked for Freybe's Meats on Robson St. Waltraut, Heinz and family later arrived in Port Alberni to open their own delicatessen on 3rd prior to the Tsunami of 1964. Heinz passed in 1972 and Waltraut continued to run the delicatessen until 1998.
She was a member of the Europa Club until it came to an end. Known for her cooking skills and her wonderfully delicious plum cake, her potato salad was a hit for many years. Waltraut also loved her garden and caring or her home- the big white house with the red geraniums on the balcony on Roger, where she lived for 45 years. Never tiring of her jobs and the care she gave to her family, Waltraut was always busy and always smiling.
