Wallace was born on his grandparent's farm near Canwood, Saskatchewan, the second oldest of seven children. At a very young age he worked at farming in the summer then in the logging and mining industries during the winter. In 1956 he moved to Port Alberni where met and married his wife of 60 years, Katherine (Kathy) Bucy, and had two children, daughter Debra and son Stacy. While in Port Alberni, Wallace worked in the logging industry and for the City of Port Alberni where he learned to operate heavy equipment. In 1972, the family moved to Nanaimo where Wallace started his own Backhoe business, mainly subcontracting with Hub Excavating and Hub City Paving. Health issues forced Wallace into early retirement, but the consummate handyman always kept very busy maintaining his Cilaire home and yard. The home he and Katherine shared for 45 years. Wallace was well known for being friendly to everyone he met. Wallace loved to laugh, tease and make jokes, and if you enjoyed his jokes, you made his day. His family fondly remember all the fun times they had with Dad, Uncle Wallace, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa.

Wallace was pre-deceased by his brothers Walfred, Kenneth and Gary and sister-in-law Sandra Bucy. He leaves behind sister Pearl Zelensky and brothers Norman and Ervin. Wallace is dearly missed by his loving family who meant everything to him: wife Katherine; daughter Debra & son in law Kim Cote; son Stacy and daughter-in law Tracey; grandchildren, Amber, Michael, Adam, Stuart and Rebecca; great grandchildren Aaliyah, Zarah, Vienna, Grace and Logan; brother-in-law John Bucy and his family; and many nieces and nephews. Their lives are less bright without him.

The Family would like to thank all the Doctors, health care workers and wonderful volunteers that assisted Wallace, specifically, those at NRGH Emergency, NRGH Palliative Care Unit, Royal Jubilee Hospital, and the Victoria Cancer Lodge. Katherine, Debra and Stacy would like to thank his wonderful family, friends and neighbours who made his world a better place.

To accommodate Wallace's wishes, his celebration of life will be attended by immediate family only.
