November 25, 1937 - July 10, 2020
Virginia (Ginger) Geernaert (Mercer) (GeeGee to her grandchildren) was born in Vancouver on November 25th, 1937 and passed away peacefully at home in Ladysmith on July 10th, 2020. Ginger is survived by 2 sisters, 1 brother, 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, a Sheltie and a Pug. Ginger lost her loving husband Terry in 2017. Ginger enjoyed a full life with many friends and a close family.
Terry and Ginger loved to travel. They enjoyed a Panama Canal cruise with brothers and sisters and an Alaskan cruise with son Cory and wife Deb. Ginger flew several times to Halifax to visit Teresa (daughter) Alan and babies. Terry and Ginger traveled through England and the Netherlands with granddaughter Jody.
Terry and Ginger loved the sun and enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, Florida and Mexico. They also loved a road trip and enjoyed many down the west coast and on to Arizona to visit son Kevin. The west coast of Vancouver Island was another favourite where they vacationed often with family and friends. Ginger has joined Terry in heaven where they are enjoying a glass of wine and a laugh. Ginger and her famous pickled beets will be missed by many.

GeeGee,
My last memory of you is one of the best. You sitting in your favorite chair, blanket on lap, my dogs (Bobby and Dana) sprawled out on you. We talked about Bobby being the funniest dog and about the state of the world. You were always so supportive and proud of me. I never doubted how much you loved me and I will always miss that unconditional love. The world doesn't feel quite the same knowing you're not in it but I'm happy you're with PaPa again. Love your "faithful" granddaughter Jana
