In loving memory ~

Vida passed away peacefully March 29th at the age of 97 having lived her life on her own terms. She was raised in North Bend and moved to Vancouver Island in the 1950s with her husband Gordon (Cal). They settled into a farm on Dove Creek Road and became self -taught farmers. Vida had a green thumb and was excellent cook and baker.

Mom resided in Victoria, Nanaimo and the Comox Valley, always saying the island was the best place to live.

She is survived by her loving daughters Colleen, Karen, Kerri, Shannon, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her brother Dayton Ross. Predeceased by her brother Ivan (Skip) and her life long childhood friend (Dot).

When Mom retired from the accounting department at BC Ferries, she bought her first Golden Retriever and went on to own four more. She successfully trained her dogs for hunt and obedience trials achieving an OTCH (Obedience Trial Champion) with Wyn (Zaniri- Bear -Me -In -Mind). Vida was well known in the neighbourhood, making many friends when out walking her dogs or working in her flower gardens. Her neighbours/neighbourhood were a great source of support. The family also thanks the Kinney's from Zaniri Kennels, Paula and the Golden Retreiver Club of BC for their friendship and support.

A special thanks to the staff and residents at Glacier View Lodge for the kindness, humour and caring they shared with mom in her last year and a half.

Donations in Vida's name may be made to Glacier View Lodge or the SPCA if so desired.
