Victor Clarence Hicks

1928 - 2019 ~ Dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Victor Clarence Hicks, aged 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 30th, 2019.
Born in Port Arthur, Ontario to Clarence and Geraldine Hicks, he had many fond memories of growing up with his sister, Joyce.
As a teen, Vic's adventurous spirit led him to work on the Great Lakes luxury steamer the S.S. Noronic, ride a single speed bike from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Vancouver, and work as a waiter at a beach resort in Florida, before training as a welder. Vic or 'Bud' as he was affectionately known, was the first in his family to move West to Vancouver Island in 1957.
He will be fondly remembered for his maverick ways, gentle witty humour, business savvy, love of the outdoors, long walks, welding creations, dancing finesse, passion for gardening, swimming, scuba diving and love for travel. Vic worked at the Crofton Mill for many years as a welder, and later in life joined the Valley Seniors Organization.
Victor is survived by his wife DiAnne, daughters Lynn (Mike) Shukalov, Sue, April (Lance) Boettcher, Judy (Rob) Zelmer, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Anderberg, and her family, as well as many relatives in Ontario, and B.C. He was predeceased by his parents and his daughter, Debbie Ann.

A Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Baptist Church, 1839 Tzouhalem Rd, Duncan, B.C. on Saturday, September 21 at 1 pm. We will be having a Tea afterwards.
