In Loving Memory (1931-2022) ~
The family of Vera Jeanette (Jean) Gertzen of Edmonton, Alberta is saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022, at the age of 90 years old. Jean was two weeks short of her 91st birthday.
Jean, daughter of Helen and John Tikkanen, will lovingly be remembered by her adoring husband Donald Jacob of 62 years.
She is survived by her daughter Karen (David); and granddaughters Kaitlyn, Alexa and Delainey of Edmonton and son Kenneth; grandchildren Leah and Lukas of Winnipeg. She will also be missed by many extended family members including her younger brother George and family of West Vancouver, Shirley and Lamont of Maple Ridge, Erin of Victoria and cousin Ritva and family in Finland.
She will be missed by her friends and neighbours of 25 years in Nanaimo, B.C. and at her new home at the Devonshire Community in Edmonton, Alberta.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital for their care and compassion over the years. A special thank you to the Leduc Community Hospital for her final days.
Memorial Donations may be made in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
A private celebration of life will be held for the immediate family.
