Vera was born in the family home overlooking the Little Qualicum Estuary with the assistance of the local midwife. Vera, the oldest of 5 siblings grew up working on the small family dairy farm while graduating high school in the Qualicum Old School House.

Vera went on to work at the Nanaimo General Hospital before moving back home to work at the Shady Rest. Vera met her husband Don Nordin at a dance in Coombs and were married in 1948. Vera was married to Don for 60 years and raised six children all the while remaining very involved in her community. Vera was a member of the Women's Institute, instrumental in the development, building and running of the Qualicum Bay Hall, was involved in local PTA groups, a member of the Fire Auxiliary and OAP (Old Age Pensioners), she volunteered with the local 4H group, taught square dancing to local children, very involved with the Qualicum Bay Flea Market and Pancake Breakfast, and volunteered at The Qualicum Beach Museum till she was 92. Vera was very proud of her contribution in the gathering/ recording of Qualicum history to ensure history was not forgotten.

Vera is predeceased by husband Don, son David and brothers Robert and Kenny and sister Thelma. She will be dearly missed by her brother Ernie (Marge), son Richard (Evelyn), daughters Donna, Gayle (Lyle), Nancy (Kirk) and Maria. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff and Nurses at the Manor in Qualicum Beach for their loving care and outstanding kindness and compassion.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Qualicum Beach Museum, Qualicum Bay Hall or Qualicum Bay Fire Department would be appreciated.

At Vera's request there will be no service, this is yet to be determined by the family!!
