November 4, 1954 - November 24, 2020
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Valerie Gail Collins. She died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Port Alberni.
Valerie was born November 4, 1954 in Barrie Ontario. She moved to Port Alberni at a young age and stayed for the rest of her life where she raised a family and touched the lives of many.
She was trained as a hair stylist - a career that allowed her to meet many life-long friends. Valerie could make a friend of anyone and is lovingly remembered as a kind, compassionate and loving "old soul".
Predeceased by her parents Gladys and Kenneth, and sisters Sherrie Fortin, Debbie Humme. She leaves behind two sons, Jayson (Christine) and Jamie (Carey); grandchildren Dylan, Kennedy and Kaiden; sister Bev Huttunen; brother Kenny as well as countless friends and loved ones.
We would like to thank all the nurses who cared for her through the end of her life and those special friends who provided comfort, security and companionship in her final years.
We will miss her contagious smile and her love of laughter. We could always count on her unconditional love and for that we are truly grateful. Rest peacefully in heaven reunited with all of our loved ones who have gone before you.
You will be forever missed and always in our heart.
