November 26, 1952 - October 31, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas "Tom" Newman in Campbell River on 31 October 2021 at the age of 68. He was born in Comox to Trudy and Hal Newman on 26 November 1952.
Predeceased by his parents. Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons Bill and Dereck (Ashley); step-children James, Erica and Dianne (Eric). He was loved by his grandchildren Cameron, Siobhan, Emily, Fiona, Arya and Charlotte. Also survived by his beloved brother Bill (Joan) and sisters Laura (Greg) and Anne.
Tom enjoyed a long career working at the local mills. He was always mechanically minded and happy to share his knowledge and expertise with others. He spent many hours working in his shop restoring heritage British sports cars to their former glory and was involved with the local British Car Club. Always inventive in his approach, he once rebuilt a motorcycle in a bedroom and cleaned an engine in the dishwasher!
Tom had a love of the outdoors, dirt biking with his boys when they were young; fishing on the local lakes and rivers; and enjoying the rugged beauty of Tofino with his wife, Margaret.
Always a glass half full and with a kind word to everyone he will be greatly missed. He thought the past 10 months as a gift where he could spend time with his friends and loved ones.
At Tom's request, no service will be held.
We come with nothing.
We go with nothing.
But one great thing
we can achieve in our
beautiful life is a little
remembrance in someone's
mind and a small place
in someone's heart.
