Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.
- Rumi

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great- grandfather Terry O'Connor. Terry passed away peacefully at Saint Mary's Hospital in Sechelt, BC, surrounded by his family. Terry was a very kind and generous man, and he will be dearly missed.
Terry was born in London, UK, to William and Gladys O'Connor. In his younger years, Terry was an avid rower and spent many hours out on the water. With a great appreciation and admiration for those who fought in the war, Terry joined the Royal Air Force, where he honourably served his country. After completing his service, Terry learned his lifelong trade of furniture manufacturing in London.
It was while working at Marconi's, that he met the love of his life, Joan. Joan was widowed with three young children, and in June 1963, the two married before immigrating to Canada as a family. Settling into life in Courtenay, BC, Terry spent many years working with his hands as a master carpenter. In his later years, he took the maintenance position at Kiwanis Village.
Following his dear Joan's passing in 2001, Terry moved to be closer to his family on the Sunshine Coast, where he resided until his passing.
After retiring, Terry could often be found in his workshop applying the finishing touches on one of his many projects. In addition to building, he found great joy in music, always humming a tune as he went about his day.
Terry also loved fishing, a passion he shared with his brothers and grandson Brett. Although Terry called Canada home, he would often make trips back to visit his family in England and Wales. While living on the Sunshine Coast, Terry joined the Gibsons Legion, where he enjoyed watching the "old-boys" play pool.
Terry was predeceased by his wife Joan, daughter Denise, and sisters Norma and Joy; survived by his brothers Bill and Cavan (Shirley), sister-in-law Vera (Derrick), son Andrew (Marg), daughter Gaynor (David), son-in-law Barry, grandchildren Brett, Kyle, Kara, Rochelle, Drew, Rhian, Haydn , Sabrina, Teri, Austin, Amanda, great grandchildren Morgan, Caitlyn, Ari, Xander, Shea, Cohen, Lucy, Kadence, Jase, Ophelia, Atlas, Shane, Taylor, and his nieces and nephews Raymond, Jayne, Paul, Dale, Michelle and Maria.
Terry will be placed to rest with his wife Joan, at the Courtenay Civic Cemetery.
At this time, a celebration of life has not yet been planned and will be announced at a later date.
