With aching hearts we announce the passing of our beloved dad Syd, age 92. Loving and devoted husband to our mom May, who predeceased dad in May of this year.
Married 64 years this December.
Syd follows his father and mother (adored) Charles and Catherine, brothers Rob Roy, Leonard and sisters Nina, Lorraine, Madeline and Annette. Surviving sister Margie of Campbell River and brother Gordie of Prince Rupert.
Syd grew up in Prince Rupert BC, eventually settling in Duncan.
Dad served in the Korean War (1951-1955) on the HMCS Athabaskcan. Dad worked for years for the Liquor Control Board and later Crofton Pulp and Paper Mill, serving 28 years until retirement in 1994. Retirement was enjoyable, years of travel with mom through out Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and Alaska and Panama cruises.
Syd's passions were his wee dog Kayla, road trips to Prince Rupert, family camping and hosting family reunions. Dad was an exceptional and caring dad, our greatest supporter. Papa supported his grandsons Colton and Daniel by attending every soccer game.
Syd leaves his sons Don (Sheila), Chris (Morena), daughter Debbie as well as beloved grandchildren Amie (Russ), Nick, Dana (Carly), Casey, Colton (Edan), Daniel and his two great grandchildren sweet Quinn and baby Brooks.
Heartfelt thanx to all the caring staff at Trillium Lodge, Parksville who were apart of dads journey.
Our lives are forever changed in your absence, but know you and mom are forever together. Our love and gratitude will forever shine for you and we know you'll watch over us.
Love you forever, your kids.
