It is with profound sadness the family announce the passing of Sunny Gilda Margaret Grace Eaton ~
Sunrise-Dec.10/55

Sunny is survived by her 3 sons Micheal, George and Leslie and her partner of 42 years Brent. Also her brother Don (Mona) her sisters Majick and Anne (Rob) as well as many relatives. Cremation has taken place and condolences at www.evergreencrematoncentre.com. Donations to VIU Students Fund.
Sunny was an amazing woman, friend, mother and partner. Sunny faced much adversity in her life and always persevered with Love. Born in Montreal and travelled to BC in the early 60s in a Vauxhall with her parents.
She loved Victoria and the people who shared common ideas about connecting and community. She loved to dance and was a regular on Club 6 and forged many friendships. She maintained some of these friendships from the 60s & 70s. Sunny made new friends wherever she visited and lived.
Meeting her soul mate in late 70s she and Brent crisscrossed the country to Ontario finally settling in Nanaimo in 1989. You could not walk with her without running into many people she knew and Loved, in fact whenever she travelled to Scotland, Greece, Mexico, India or Canada she knew people and forged lifelong friendships.
Sunny was a practitioner of many modalities and Buddhism was one of her strongest practices. She was a natural to Loving Kindness and she spread it everywhere she went. Sunny saw the silver lining in everyone and mentored many to see the light.
She was a lifelong reader and learner and spread her wisdom to many people in a manner of confidence and ease. She loved her community and volunteered for many causes. She recently supported VIU Mental Health Fund to help students strive for excellence.
She believed that education was one key to moving forward and had a special place in her heart for teachers. She was a teacher to many over her life and recently taught Yoga to the teachers @ John Barsby High School and also in our backyard which was appreciated by all who attended.
Sunny worked at many restaurants in Nanaimo and was the "Hostess with the Mostess". Her customers & workmates became extended family. Her personality drew many people from the homeless to the affluent to which she gave generously. It's hard to sum up one's life in a few paragraphs especially one who was so rich in connecting with Loving Kindness.
Her life was full of colour and she wore it well. Leslie and Brent would like to thank everyone, too many to mention. There will be a party when many people can gather later this year.
"She was made out of Love and she came from the Stars"
