It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Steve Lucas, Friday Sept. 9. He was 82, born to William Lucas and Barbara Lucas, nee Turner, in Brantford Ontario, Feb 23, 1940.
Steve and his family moved to B.C. at the age of five, to a small farm at Mt. Lehman in the Fraser Valley. He was in Scouts, and later Army cadets and than a member of the army reserves.
He graduated from Semiahmoo high school in Whiterock. He enjoyed the fun and friends in the Vaqueros Motorcycle club. He did a years training in Accounting, but decided instead, to pursue, Mechanical training and graduated from Vancouver Vocational school as an Auto Mechanic with high marks.
Steve worked at Pacific GMC in Vancouver for several years. While working at Pacific GMC, he met his wife Jan, nee Dagg in a hiking and skiing club. They were married in 1970. They had three children. They enjoyed building a house in Nanoose, skiing, travelling and many wonderful fishing trips. They also enjoyed attending and participating at Knox United Church.
He was a founding member of the Nanoose Volunteer Fire dept., and a member of the Union Bay volunteer Fire Dept. Steve and Jan have lived in Nanoose for over 40 years.
Steve is survived by his wife, Jan of 52 years, his children, Greg, wife Angie, daughter Nancy, and husband Ryo, Bob and wife Patricia, Grandchildren Nika, Sadie, Anna, Rei, Evelyn and Tadashi, his sister Jean and brother John.
The Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Knox United Church, 345 Pym St; Parksville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
