March 18, 1940 – June 5, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephanie Anne Cooper, on June 5, 2022. She was 82.
Born in Victoria on March 18, 1940 to Patricia Burgess, Stephanie grew up in Victoria before moving to Nanaimo with her husband, best friend and love of her life Frank Cooper. They met at 14 years old and were married at the tender age of 19, a true love story.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother Stephanie was the center of the universe for many. The Matriarch of a family with deep love and affection for each other, Stephanie was always there with her famous hugs, a listening ear and her perfect advice on life’s challenges.
A world class cook, Stephanie’s Special Occasion dinners are legendary. There was always enough for everyone, and everyone was always welcome. An avid reader, Stephanie loved her books and loved to play cards. Whether in the Motorhome exploring the world or at the Cabin at Horne Lake living their dream retirement, the only thing that would get in the way was Bingo.
Stephanie is survived by her husband Frank, their children Vernon (Laurie) Russell, Tricia (Rob), grandchildren Shantelle (Jordan), Ian, Clayton (Josey), Shae, Justin, Hailey, Mathew, her great grandson Isaac, her sister Patricia, sisters in law Pat & Marg, many nieces & nephews and many good friends.
The family would like to extend a debt of gratitude to Dr Nadra Ginting, her surgical team and the entire staff of Nurses and Aids of the 7th Floor of the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Your efforts, professionalism and caring made Steph’s final hours as comfortable as possible. You are truly angels among us and we appreciate everything you do.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 16, 2022 at 1 pm at the Costin Hall located at 7232 Lantzville Rd.
In lieu of flowers a donation to honor Stephanie can be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
