Stella Rushak

September 1, 1934 - June 3, 2019
Cherished Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Auntie, and friend.
Stella passed away to rest in the arms of her Lord, with loving family by her side on Friday, May 24, 2019. She was born to Peter and Mary Nahachewski on Sept. 1, 1934 in Swan Plain, Saskatchewan. Stella is survived by her two children, Noel (Diane) and Patricia (Denis). She also leaves her two cherished grandsons, Nicholas and Michael, and precious brothers Marvin Nash and Stan Nash, and sister Natalie Gandley, as well as numerous loving extended family members and friends.
Stella lived in Grimsby, Pembroke, Scarborough and St. Catharines Ontario prior to relocating to Nanaimo in 1964, where she lovingly raised her family. Most of Stella's working life was as a Social Worker at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. She enjoyed fellowship and had many friends at First Baptist Church over the years. Stella was a special person always putting others first, and dedicated her whole life always serving others. She devoted volunteer time to The Salvation Army, Senior Peer Counselling, Nanaimo Family Life Association, Hospice Society, Nanaimo Auxiliary to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, and others. She received a formal recognition of appreciation of her services from the Hon. Dale Lovick, Nanaimo MLA for her contribution to the people of the Province of BC. Most of all, Stella's priority was her family, and she loved spending time with her adult children & their spouses and grandchildren. She is also leaving behind many wonderful friendships, and will be greatly missed. "See You There" mom.
A service in honour of Stella will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 1:30 at the First Baptist Church on 1650 Waddington Road, Nanaimo. Donations in her name to The Salvation Army or Nanaimo Family Life.
