In Loving Memory ~ It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our Mom. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Lloyd; her father Daniel Head; mother Alice (nee Roper), brothers Harry and Russell, sisters Joan (Frances) Mclssac and Judy Preeper.
Left to grieve are her children Ken and his son Nigel (Ruthie) Lohnes, Bonnie Lohnes (Derek) and her daughter Felicia Jorgensen, Cathy Grimstead and her daughter and son Sara and Dylan Grimstead as well as her siblings (Ross Preeper), Margaret (Johnny) McLellan, Greg (Virginia), Kathleen (Martin) MacPhee, Ken (Kathy), Sue (Greg) Patterson, Tim (Susie) and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law Bernadette (nee Lohnes)(Phil) Gallagher.
Mom was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia to coal miner family. Mom met dad on a blind date and shortly there after he asked her to marry him. He was her main focus all their lives together. When we moved to Comox in ’71, Mom worked in The Joly Giant as the ‘candy lady’, at the Comox Pharmacy as cashier, helped in the dispensary & as a chambermaid at Collingwood Inn.
She and Dad managed Quadra Gardens for 19 years. Mom volunteered as a Brownie & Guide leader, as well as with Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society, March of Dimes and a Life Line responder. Mom was a member of the RCL Ladies Auxiliary Br. #160 since 1976. She had filled all positions up to Zone Commander.
Mom started and was in charge of Soup and Sandwich that was put on for the public for many years before she accepted ‘retirement’. She was also a part of the Pub Night Singers. Mom LOVED getting together with her friends over lunch.
Mom lost Dad in 2015 and was never the same. She was not aware Dad had gone & kept waiting for him to show up. We know that Mom is now with Dad, dancing with her love for eternity. That’s our Mama as she was known.
If so wishing, a donation can be made to the RCL Br. #160 Ladies Auxiliary in her name or a charity of your choosing.
