September 26, 1939 - November 16, 2019
It is with such deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jack.
After a six month hospital stay and almost ready to return home, he succumbed to pneumonia. He fought a hard battle and never once complained.
He leaves behind a loving heartbroken family. His wife Wendy of 58 years; Son Tom (Corri); daughter Joan (Mike) and five grandchildren; Matthew, Robert, Becca, Aaron (Darby) and Sarah. Also three sisters; Marie (Ray); Suzanne (Rick) and Michelle (Brooke).
Jack, born in Fort McMurray, Alberta, had lived in Lantzville for almost 70 years.
Jack was confined to a wheelchair since 1984 after his recovery from a logging injury on Nov. 28, 1961. In 1967, he established Ajac's Equipment in Nanaimo where he worked until he was 74, along with son Tom, who now owns the shop, and his two grandsons Robert and Aaron.
Never complaining about himself, he kept active and lead a very healthy lifestyle. He was often seen wheeling for miles along the Lantzville Road. He enjoyed boating, wheelchair tennis, wheelchair curling, exercising and cruising over the years; listening to his radio and the Canuck games were a must but special times with family and friends always came first.
He will be so greatly missed.
A Celebration of Jack's life will be held on November 28, 2019 at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC at 2 o'clock.
Please no flowers, but donations to Variety Club or Paraplegic Association (BC) if so wished.
